Had another busy day. First we had another
rehearsal for my concert. Then we went to the big theater for Jack DeJohnette’s
master class. During the master class Jack invited me, Jason, and Nir to join
him and Gerald Cannon (Mycoy Tyner’s bassist) to play a tune. Again it was an amazing
experience.
When Jason and I came out the stage door after
the master class there was a whole group of kids. The lady that was with them
said they all lived in a very small village in the mountains about a couple of
hours away. They came on a special field trip to see us and were wondering if
they could take a picture with us.

They were so excited they had us signing
anything they had with them, programs, paper, even their shirts.

Before my show I went back to the big hall to see
McCoy Tyner. It was a really inspiring show. McCoy sounded even
better than the last time I saw him. Mela has been playing in is group
for a while now along with Gerald Cannon on bass. We rushed back to the hotel
so I could change and get ready for my show.
My show was held right in the hotel at this cool
club called Burbija. It really felt like a jazz club. Tables were set up
and there were a few hundred people packed in there. It was pretty insane
trying to get in because people were out the door and to the lobby waiting in a
line. Gerald Cannon came down to see my show.
After my show there was a
jam session at the club that went on until 4 AM. I stayed for a while we all jammed for a bit. Gerald
Cannon joined for a couple of tunes with me Edgar, Jason and Mela.
Some of them went Salsa dancing after, I was too
tired to go. Now I’m back in the room heading to bed. It’s like 2 AM.
