“She’s The First”
G. Kelly / A. Bender

INTRO:

She’s the first to dare, and leave her mark

First to rise, and start a spark

Ooh fire’s burning bright she can lead us through the night

VERSE I:  They try to make her feel so small

They hide her light behind these walls

But they can’t keep her down

She sees the world a different way

And she knows her voice can make a change

And they can’t keep her down

She’s got the grit and the grace

She’s got the heart of the brave

She’s not afraid of the chase

CHORUS: She’s the first to dare, leave her mark

First to rise, start a spark

Ooh A fire’s burning bright

She can lead us through the night

First to break, through the crowd

First to fight and live it loud

Ooh Fire’s burning bright

She can lead us through the night

VERSE II:  She holds the power in her hands

We know we’re stronger when we stand

We stand together now

She paves the way for something more

And we’re made for kicking down these doors

We stand together now

She’s got the grit and the grace

She’s got the heart of the brave

She’s not afraid of the chase

CHORUS: She’s the first to dare, leave her mark

First to rise, start a spark

ooh! fire’s burning bright

She can lead us through the night

First to break, through the crowd

First to fight and live it loud

ooh! fire’s burning bright

She can lead us through the night

BRIDGE: (4 Times) Can’t stop it, we’re all in

Shake up the world, we got this

CHORUS: She’s the first to dare, leave her mark

First to rise, start a spark

First in line, fire’s burning bright

She can lead us through the night

First to break, through the crowd

First to fight, live it loud

Ooh fire’s burning bright

She can lead us through the night

BRIDGE: (4 Times) Can’t stop it, we’re all in

Shake up the world, we got this

“She’s the First” Anthem by Grace Kelly Benefits Girls’ Education Cause

Grace Kelly knows the power of a scholarship. In 2011, when Grace was a junior at Berklee College of Music, Glamour magazine chose her as a winner of their iconic Top 10 College Women contest, awarding her a scholarship. That’s when Grace first heard about a nonprofit called She’s the First, which provides scholarships to girls in low-income countries who would be the first in their families to graduate high school. The manager of Glamour’s contest, Christen Brandt, happened to be the co-founder of She’s the First, then a small, volunteer-run organization.

Five years later, Grace and She’s the First have reunited, when Christen asked Grace if she’d be willing to perform at the organization’s annual Mentor Breakfast fundraiser, which is on November 17th in New York City, to help them reach a $1.25M fundraising goal.

Grace enthusiastically agreed. She was so inspired by how far She’s the First had come and where it’s headed, that she decided to compose a royal anthem for them called “She’s the First.”

The song will premiere on October 11, 2016 to celebrate the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child, a resolution adopted in 2011 that recognizes the power of adolescent girls to help break the global cycles of poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination.

The song “She’s the First” was created in collaboration with some of LA’s top pop music producers. It will receive support at launch from the grassroots campus chapter network of She’s the First, which includes 216 high school and college chapters (1.3M total student body reach), and Glamour.com.

Grace will also film a music video, premiering on November 1st, 2016, to celebrate STF’s seventh birthday. The video will represent She’s the First Scholars, student leaders, and female role models who were the first in their endeavors, by incorporating footage submitted by the STF community. The soulful, catchy melody and lyrics are grounded in empowerment, breaking barriers, and unity and will resonate deeply with socially conscious Millennial women.

All proceeds from digital downloads from iTunes, etc and streaming like Spotify etc will be donated to She’s the First.

Launch and promotion timeline:
Oct. 11: Official Premiere for International Day of the Girl Child
Nov. 1: Official Music Video Premiere for STF’s seventh birthday
Nov. 17: Live performance by Grace Kelly at STF’s Annual Mentor Breakfast
